Reasons Why Tooth Extractions Are Necessary

Tooth extractions are often our only option when:

  • A baby tooth refuses to fall out on its own
  • A tooth needs to be removed prior to orthodontic treatment
  • A decayed or damaged tooth cannot be restored with a filling or crown
  • A tooth is impacted below the gumline

During your consultation, we will complete a comprehensive oral exam and share if we recommend proceeding with this emergency dental treatment. If that’s the case, we will also provide you with an overview of the process and answer any questions you have. That way, your experience is stress-free instead of stressful.

The Process of Removing a Tooth

The first step of the procedure is always to numb your mouth. Once you’re comfortable and ready to begin, Dr. Sheren Elsaid will use special tools to grip the tooth before rocking it back and forth. When it’s ready to be removed, she will pull it and tend to the extraction site. Thanks to the local anesthetic, you won’t feel a thing!
